Embrace the Road Less Traveled

Before you arrived here on earth the soul that you are made plans. You decided on your appearance, your personality, your goals, your lessons and overall purpose. Then you were born and BOOM!...you forgot all the details.

So began the process of finding your way to your life path. Many times that road to remembering your direction was painful. You grew up filled with other people’s ideas about how you should behave and what you should do. You struggled between wanting to please others and pleasing yourself.

The survival necessity of being part of a family or a group as you grew may have left you struggling for your own individuality. That can be a struggle merely because your personal uniqueness always demands expression.

Now you are a grownup and every day seems more precious than the last. You do not want to waste even one of these days. Your hearts are full of searching for your highest and best endeavors. With Spirit calling to you and guiding you, the need to be your authentic self has become the number one priority.

I remember in one of the Carlos Castaneda books Don Juan tells Castaneda, “you must lose your personal history.” I understand that more today than ever. You simply cannot be who you were yesterday nor can you be who others have decided you are. You have to be who you are this minute, this day.

Yes your experiences of the past have brought you to today but those experiences are not you, they are simply the catalysts to that you that you are now.

Without a doubt your nearest and dearest friends and family have put each of you in a frame or box. They have decided who you are and assigned various labels. They do this for their own comfort. I am not saying that they are doing anything wrong but problems arise between you when they realize their ideas are no longer the way you really are, they may feel upset or even betrayed.

In more extreme cases, merely by being who you are today can cause loss of various relationships. Your closest friends may not be able to accept your new values.

The good news is that as you access your personal wisdom and begin living your truth, you will attract new and more suitable life affirming relationships. Being able to let go and embrace change is paramount to a successful life.

When you are on the life path that is uniquely yours, you are one with the values and goals of your soul. You are in a state of soul resonance. How can you tell if you are following your own intended path?

Fortunately, you have an accurate indicator to tell you if your choices are originating from soul direction powered with heart wisdom. When your chosen way and activities lead you into a space of no-time, the hours pass by without notice and fill you with the feeling that you could work that way forever, you have found it. YOU ARE IN THAT MARVELOUS STATE OF SOUL RESONANCE.

The sense of deep fulfillment will always accompany a soul decision. When you make a soul decision no matter what challenges arise it will seem as if any impediment is simply one more step to achieving the goal.

The important thing is to keep your fledgling ideas close to you until they are completely formed and ready to fly. It is all too easy in your enthusiasm to share your new plans before they are ready. Input from friends, family or fellow workers can crush your drive to succeed and sidetrack your desires.

There can be resentment or even unconscious jealousy when acquaintances see you change and begin to move forward. It takes courage to stick with your beliefs in the face of nay-sayers. When you feel in your heart that what you are doing is right for you, stay firm, don’t waver.

As I was growing up, it didn’t take me long to realize that completely pleasing my mother was not going to happen. Not that I ever quit trying. I remember one Easter when as a grownup I was doing a solo in the church program. I invited my mother and my new step father to come and enjoy.

Afterwards I asked mother how she liked the overall program. Her response? “You hit a few good notes”. No, I still have not forgotten, but fortunately by that time in my life I was immune to her inability to give any appreciation or complement! The important thing for me was that I knew I had enjoyed and loved my work with the group. I also knew I had given my very best because I could feel my heart singing with me.

No matter what your are doing when your heart sings, go with it! That is your heaven on earth. Do not let anyone or anything stop you from giving your best. You have found your most personal and unique way of expressing. This is your personal "road less traveled". It belongs to you.

Your creativity, your gifts are inspired. Shine the light that you are. You are valuable and important for the contributions you will make to this earth and her people.
